Beginners - Nubies - Learn the trails Ride

Didge's picture

When : Sunday 1st July
Meet : Coles car park Kalamunda
Time : 8.30am
Duration : 2hrs
Pace : As quick as the less quick person

Some people have asked to be shown the trails, ie Cob Webs, Single track to Pickering Brook etc. If you are intersted, come along and see what this area really has to offer. Won't be doing any big hills or gnarly drops, just flatish sweet sweet single track.

Newbie ride

Sounds like the ride for me Didge,
Looking forward to that sweeeet single track already.
See you there.

Newbie Ride

Are you sure there is no sugar Pete!

Elevator repairman

Speaking of "flat-ish", has anyone fixed that damn elevator yet??? .. or so we still have to ride up it?

kwm00re's picture

Sweet.

I'll be there with Ellie. :) She's keen to learn her way around the area.

FF - I was thinking I might tag along through the cobwebs then see if I could find my way around without any sugar.
Whaddaya think?

M - the elevator is still broken...

Didge's picture

No elevator repair needed on this ride

As this is a beginners ride, all medium to large hills will be avoided. Am thinking of doing Cobwebs, then, if people are keen, onto Pickering Brook along all the singles and back.

Ken and Freddie - If there are any experienced riders tagging along to learn the trails, you could show them Zero Sugar whilst I lead the others back to the carpark (Via singletrack of course).

i think showing ppl around like this is a much better way of publicising the trails than putting them on the website

The pace will be quite tame for seasoned riders but the trails are sweet. If ken gets over his flu and comes along there will be the option of peeling off with him and doing some more challenging stuff (the rest of the Zero Sugar circuit) at whatever pace you like.

See you there.

noob

+2 :oD keen to know more rides !!looks like there will be quite a few peoples going.

I'm riding a Giant thermo 2 hard tail, great bike to get into MTB already eyeing some $5k bikes tho have to stop drooling over them in the mags :o)

see ya's sunday

Weather Forecast?

Will the ride be on regardless of the weather?

More than happy to get wet but it looks like a front will be coming through just as the ride is about to start.

Don't mind getting a bit wet or even soaked - still be a blast. Mud is gooood - just what mtb is all about!

Folks,a few quiet words.1)

Folks,

a few quiet words.

1) The man leading this ride (Didge), is a great coach, and Yes, he can ride with the best, but is happy to help us slower ones out.

2) he coached me for last years 12hr - for which I am enternaly great full.

3) His newbie ride are famous for giving people a great introduction to both the tracks and the "forum riders" - us that are not technically members of the club, but have met and ride through this forum.

If you want to MTB, at ANY speed.

Be there.
(Ps My girl (the Crazy one) will be, Im recovering/suffering from the common plague right now :( )

21 riders on sweet singles

Thanks everyone for turning up in the rain, it was great to see so many new faces out on the trails.

Cheers

thanks for taking us out, it was a great ride even if i dont really remember where we went for next time! Beat the worst of the weather too by the looks of it. Definately taking the bike in for a service so I can get up those gentle inclines in low gear...

Cobwebs

Still don't think i could find cobwebs on my own! Just have come back for another ride with the master.
Thanks for the ride Didge, we missed your navigation skills later in the morning but it was all good.
Ta

I`m only happy when it rains....

cheers for a sweet ride didge, and thanks to Ken et al for the sweet detour!!!

LUCKY's picture

i WANT A REMATCH!~!!

I was planning on joining this ride and due to circumstances beyond my control i couldn't make it.
So if there is any chance of a Part Two ( obviously there was more than enough interest in the first one) please post up.

I wanna find out where this mysterious Cobwebs trail is ( so do many of the actual participants of ride 1 by the look of the above posts).
So Didge/ others in the know and interested in helping me/others out please post another ride soon.
This weekend, or the next or the next etc, etc
The girls who went on part 1 are already planning their next trip...

Likewise, I could not make

Likewise, I could not make this weekend either. Real keen to get out there for some new trails.
Mike.

Rematch.............

I was also was unable to attend on Sunday and would also be very keen for another newbie ride of these or other trails.

Didge's picture

Faster paced rematch in near future

This weekend is out as I am doing the Mundabiddi. The 15th (depending if recovered from the Mundabiddi) I may be talked into leading a newbie ride at cobwebs.
As I will be increasing my training for the 6hr event in August, the pace of this ride will have to be medium to fast and will also include the full Zero Sugar loop which involves lots of hills and technical riding. If you are a medium to fast paced rider please post your interest.
I like to warm up for a while so medium paced riders could hang on for all of cobwebs, including Angry Grannies, then peel off and explore the area before the pace gets too hot. 1 or 2 weeks after the 6hr I will post another beginners/ learn the trails ride.

Happy riding,
Pete.
