We will also have tea,
We will also have tea, coffee, cake and soft drinks available for sale at the race. This will hopefully become a regular event and as it gets colder we will also have soup!
Rego
Is there on day rego for this? Or is it pre-rego only?
On day rego will be
On day rego will be available. I rode the course yesterday and bumped into a few others doing the same. It has packed down well from the rains and will ride well. The cross country track goes in reverse direction to last year's state champs course but only goes half way up the hill and cuts across in front of the hill, joining the left hand side down run (which was ridden up in the state champs) mid way. Running the course in reverse adds new interest and challenge to the track. Provisional laps are:
Elite Men = 7 laps ( estimated 14 minutes p/lap = 1 hour 38 minutes )
Elite Women = 6 laps ( estimated 17 minutes p/lap = 1 hour 42 minutes )
Expert Men = 6 laps
Expert Women = 5 laps
Masters Men = 4 laps ( estimated 17 minutes p/lap = 1 hour 8 minutes )
Sport Men A = 3 laps
Sport Men B = 2 laps
Sport Women = 2 laps
Super Masters Men = 3 laps
Under 13 = short course race only
Under 15 = 2 laps
Under 17 = 3 laps
Under 19 = 4 laps
Veterans Men = 5 laps
Veterans Women = 4 laps
Lap count
Hey, shouldn't the distance of the XC event be eased back a bit, considering that we'll have just completed a short course event?
And it's just a club round!
At 6 laps for Expert I might just spend the day on the sidelines with my Eski!!
high tea at the races
We will also have tea, coffee, cake...
and scones? Will we have scones? With jam??

I've updated the XC Race Tracks - Goat Farm page with an image of this course, and Google Earth data file.
As a race virgin. How hard
As a race virgin. How hard is this event? I am 38 next week and a weekend warrior. I have ridden Carinyah once and Langford Park 3 times and love it. I take about 50 min to do the Langford Park 12 hour circuit and have no idea about these races. Last year i did several road Cyclosportif events of up to 60 km. If I was to race tomorrow what group should I enter into? How hard is this circuit compared to Langford Park and Carinyah? How long would each of the races be. Are there medics there to take me to hospital?
I know this is short notice but any help would be great.
Mike.
I would suggest that you
I would suggest that you race either veterans or sport B. Sport B will be the shortest race of the day. A 15 minute short course and an xc race about 1hr long. the course is not any harder than jarrahdale technically but has a few more hills. Well worth coming out and having a go or at least havinga loook.
Thanks John, I will
Thanks John,
I will definately be there in the morning and give it a go. What is the worst that can happen. Are you with ....?
Hope to meet you tomorrow.
Mike.
