XC bike +/- $1000 to 1500 for a gem!

Hi all,
Am new to the sport and would love to get a short travel XC dually. Pref not a Giant.
I'm about 6 foot tall, so a large size frame would be what I'm chasing.
Would love a Cannondale, Jamis, or similar with Fox suspension.
