First DH race

Hi, me and my friend were thinking about doing our first DH race at the Hiway cup golden grove DH track http://www.perthmtb.com/node/1740. We havn't ridden at golden grove so we wouldn't know the track very well, but we have ridden at Mundaring and Goat farm a fair bit. We have been riding downhill for about a year on STP's and about a month ago upgraded to Glory DH1's and we are fairly confident on them now. we were just wondering if this would be a good first race for us or would it be better just to wait for a race at goat farm.
Thanks

EDIT: there doesnt seem to be anymore rounds at goat farm this year.

c'mon!!!

golden grove is a good track, it's not difficult but there are hard bits like the off camber and the shark tooth drop. my best advice would be come up for saturdays practice, and bring a camelpack... it's a long push up

oh and i think i know you from goatfarm, ill be the one with a big black mountain cycle, say g'day.

any tracks fine to start on,

any tracks fine to start on, everything had b lines, alot of new guys think they want to start on a track they ahve done which will amke them good at it, sadly thats not often the case, whats the point of not racing a track liek golden grove thats only open race days because youve never ridden it, by that theory you should never ride any private race tracks

Yer, thanks for the replies

Yer, thanks for the replies i think were going to go on saturday and go to the practice and hopefully race the next day.
Just wondering though does it cost anything to go to the practice? I know all about the costs of the race day.
If you see us there we both have DH1's I have red fly gear and my friend has a shift jersey.
Cheers

Golden Grove was my first

Golden Grove was my first ever race well over 10 years ago. The bike I was riding can only be described as fully ridged by todays standards and we were still jumping off the wall!

Hit it up you will have a blast.
Nige

just one cost

the race fees cover for the saturday aswell, just turn up on saturday and pay ur rego then and turn up on sunday, have a practice run and be up the top by 10:30. the juniors are first off the block so make sure ur there by 10:30.

also make sure to include $5 for your race plate and about 4 cable ties per bike to attach it.
the race plate lasts for the rest of da season so it's a once of $5. everyone is helpful, ask questions and have fun.

Seeya there
