I have been going up most weekends, but missed the weekend of the state course and I am now trying to find it. I am going round what I think is the course, but it only comes up at 5.5kms so I am missing something somewhere, but just can't figure out where.
A few places where there are a couple of choices.
On the downwards side of the course, about halfway, going down there is a fork, left goes down hill, right goes over a flat rock and then ends up joining the uphill section which would had been tackled by turning left. (impossable to describe). As taking the flat rock tends to shorten the course I have always gone left.
When getting down to the quarry, do you turn left and take the easy flat option of getting to the bottom of the jumping area, or one of the steep decent options by going straight on. (either route doesn't look like its going to add the missing km though!)
I have tried the approach someone mentioned by always taking the uphill choice and this doesn't seem to work. These must had been closed of race day.
Should I be ending up going through the very rocky downhill that joins the fence line path that runs down to the quarry ? I don't think so but maybe this is where I am going wrong.
As far as i can work out there are 3 main climbs. The first to the top of the hill. A shorter one through a short section of the woods. Then the final one is through a rocky section that eventually leads up to the fire trail, where you then take a left, then left again to follow the fence line down to the quarry.
Any help from anyone ?
