I visited the hill this arvo and found a challenging track ( well for my non hill climbing legs anyway) .3 laps of it for Sport A will be a great challenge come Sunday morning. I dont know if i managed the correct laps though as getting to the bottom of the hill near the big drop off There didnt seem to be any clear markings.
I probably just looked straight over them as usual or the bunding/ branches had been possibly moved .
Is the the correct path over the small jump to the left and down the big drop off then around onto the last piece of track from the State Championships last year or turning left across the creek and down the gravel road and over a new small bridge back to the start area of Last years champs???
The Lap ended up 6.8km in length. Just curious so i can get that part of the track clear in my mind before sunday if there is anyone that can help.
Cheers

NO bridge
I don't believe the bridge is included in the Sport A race track though possibly the kids will race around there. I must ride the track sometime myself...
is all the track marked? and
is all the track marked? and is the track the same as the last xc race in October last year?
Goatfarm Race Details?
Does anybody know what time registration begins on Sunday and what time any of the races start? I can't seem to find the information anywhere!
Race times
Well I would say get there about 7.30 - 8 am or register online.
Sport Classes have been starting around the 9 am mark but I am not 100%.
and bring a spare set of hooves for the 2nd and 3rd laps. 8-)

When you first log into the website the details for this weekends race are in the right hand column.
Just had a look at the
Just had a look at the attachment which states the start times, expected lap times etc.
Wondering why is there a 1 hr 45 min gap between the under 15's and the elite men? Is it meant to be a 10:15 start for the elite men rather than 11:15? It just pushes the other categories back quite significantly so I wasn't sure if there was something going on in that hour between..
Thanks
Multiple waves.
The delay allows the track to clear before the Elite field gets on and starts damaging other racers with their sonic boom :)
Check the times again; consider the gap as coverage for the ~ 1:30 race time following the 9:30 start for Vets Women, for example.
Does anyone know if the race trail is marked?
track
The track basically has 3 new sections and an old section between the 2 quaries.
Firstly, it is not same track as the state champs although it is similar.
I will do my best to try and explain the new track. There will be detailed maps to view on Sunday.
The track runs in a clockwise direction heading up the hill.
over the hill and right onto the first new section that bypasses the rocky rutted down hill.
small climb back up then down around torana corner.
follow track down and around the back section (as per state champs)
instead of heading left and across the creek go straight ahead onto the next new section and bypass the down hill jump section. this avoids the climb back up the hill as well.
veer left on this new section then turn right and head up the steep (cannon ball run) hill
veer left across the top and back down around the hill to near the start of the cannon ball run again.
follow the track as per normal (state champs) until you pass the rubbish tip.
now instead of turning left and heading back towards the bottom and along the creek as we normally do, go straight ahead on the new section and work your way up the hill and little switch backs up onto the fire road.
left onto the fire road (which now appears easy) then left again about half way up the hill.
drop down into the down hill run (old hill climb) veering left at the bottom (BE CAREFUL OF THE SHEER DROP OFF THE LHS, this should still be bunted off). Drop down a steep (but very nice) hill to the right, across the bottom and turn right to go up to the track at the top.
turn left and head across the flat track back towards the main road into the goat farm.
then back up the hill for your next lap.
PS; my 12 year old can ride this track no problem, although my wife was'nt too happy after her first lap (but is o,k, now that she has done another lap)
the kids track is short and just around the top shelter area and half laps will be clearly marked on Saturday.
regards, TT
is the track marked and can
is the track marked and can we register on Saturday or Sunday for NO extra cost?
track & rego
The track is kind of marked, but not fully. Try and follow the directions above for now.
I would have already had it fully done, but every time I put bunting up some one or something moves it?????
It will cost you $10 extra to enter on the day (Sunday only) so please rego online to save us some work and time on Sunday. rego online (or by post) really does save us alot of time on the day. it also makes it easier for Bron to enter the names into the computer.
PS; Bron does a huge amount of work at home behind the scenes like doing all this rego work. so the easier we can make it for him, the better (rather than doing it on the morning at the race).
thanks for your understanding, regards, TT
Track details
Thanks for the description of the track folks.
Will bust out some more laps this week.
Scantly signed
Went there last night and kept losing the trail. There are just too many trails criss-crossing. Quite frustrated in the end. I think I'll just have to wait till Sunday to ride the full track.
.. and oh! Yes I, too, found the hills exceptionally challenging. :)
track set up
Hey Tony, just wondering what time you are going to be at the goatfarm on Saturday putting up the bunting as I will be keen to help
