Hi guys,
I really would like to get started racing in something like Sports B, im 23 and love to ride, but the fitness and skills lack.
I ride a haro v2, which is a pretty basic setup (http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2007&Brand=Haro&M...) (mine has rear discs as well.)
I would like to know what the best track to get started on would be (nothing with jumps, work is too important), and an idea of training id need to do.
I would also love to know some cheap mods to give the bike a fighting chance (i already have Larsens fitted.)
Thanks,
wicksey

Hey, welcome aboard.
Hey, welcome aboard.
Maybe, Forsyth's Mill could be a good starting point. (See http://perthmtb.com/node/208) The track's not too gnarly, but still has all aspects of XC riding. (Bit of a drive from the CBD tho.) I think Sport B is 2 laps, so with that in mind you can determine your training.
You might like to look into clipless pedals if you haven't already - I think that could be one of the biggest simple performance boosters for XC racing.
