Well if you weren't at Nannup racing on the Anzac long-weekend, you probably aren't aware that Paul D. had one of the nastiest crashes we’ve seen for a long time (it happened off the large rock huck in the first rock garden).
First of all, Paul will be OK. Second, Paul sent me a SMS from Bridge town hospital to ask me to thank all those people involved in getting him off the hill—Thanks! Third, Paul suffered a broken bone on the side of the spine, but there is no spinal damage. Also, he has a small broken bone in his left hand. On top of all that he has ended up with some severe bruising to his legs, back, & buttocks. Today Paul received news that he should be out of hospital tomorrow (Thursday 1st May).
On behalf of PMBC and all the riding crew I would like to wish Paul a smooth and speedy recovery. All the best Paul, we hope to see you out on a bike soon.
Cheers,
Steve “Clubber of Seals” Buursema
PMBC VP DH
Eh, its Clubber here. Bad news I was Just speaking to Corey (Housey) from PDMBC and the race scheduled for this weekend (04/05/08) is now cancelled and will be re-scheduled to a later date. Check this website for future details on Dwellingup races because we'll try and keep you informed by posting the relevent news ASAP.
Cheers,

PMBC will be holding the first State round of the 2008 season in the Lewana Pine Plantation, Nannup. Although the calendar stated otherwise, PRACTISE WILL BE ON SAT 26th and RACING ON Sun 27th of April (ANZAC long weekend). The Nannup track was designed specifically for the 2005 National Round held there and is by far the best DH that WA has to offer. Sam Hill was one of the lead designers of the track, and it offers way more vertical drop than anything else around. It also offers some of the biggest variety of obstacles, with a huge double jump (optional), to fast fire road at the top, one of the best rock garden sections around, then into single-track (very technical) down through the deep-dark woods, complete with terraces, step downs and fully walled berms!
Online Rego:
4X Round #1 Pingelly - Mac (Accommodation Booking Phone #s now included)
The first 4X round of the season will be held on Sunday 20th of April at the all new 4x track in Pingelly. As this is the first race at this track we will have Saturday practice from 2pm for those who have pre registered (and wish to stay the night), and there will be practice on Sunday morning for a couple of hours before racing begins.
Racing will be Mountain X style with 3 motos to gain points then the top riders battle it out for the finals. Cash and prizes up for grabs.
Accommodation will be available on site $15 per person for dormitories or $14 per tent site, Includes use of BBQs and hot showers. Food and drinks available from Sunday morning. To book accomodation please call 0488 792 118 or call Mac on 0403 967 440.
The 2008 DH Season kicks off this Sunday 6th April, with a club round at the Goat Farm.
We will be using last year's State Champs track, and will be expecting a big turn out for the first event of the year. This race last year attracted over 120 riders, which proved to be a handful for rego, as most people were also wanting to renew/sign up for season memberships. As a result we are going to start the race a little later in order to give everyone a chance to get all rego/membership stuff out of the way, and get a decent practice in too. *New number plates for this year must be purchased for $5 at the event, and will be used for every race over the season. For online rego just put any number into the plate number section.
As you may be aware we are starting a new volunteer system in order to combat the problems encountered in previous years, and to give the committee a bit more time to practice/race.
Part of this new system is to offer incentives for parents, partners, friends etc to help out at events. Anyone who contacts the club to help out over the course of the event will be able to gain free entry for a rider of their choice. ie, a parent who volunteers to help over the course of the day/event, will then get free entry for their kid.
These volunteer positions will be the kind that competitors will not be able to fill, such as Marshals, Shuttle drivers, Starters, Timing assistants etc. These positions are all very simple and straight forward and no prior experience is necessary. So if you want to save some money on your kid's racing habit please email dh@perthmtb.com and let us know if you are available for upcoming races.
Online rego is now available for the races below. A "pay on day" option is available if you don't want to put your credit card details on the net.
DH Club Round 1 Goatfarm
DH State Round 1 Nannup
Online rego links for future events will be listed at the Race Entry - Forms & Online menu at the left (http://perthmtb.com/node/101).
Because the Goatfarm is the first race of the season, you will all need to select the $5 plate option (you can't use plates from last year).
How’s it going all ya mad mountain bikers—EH! Well ya brought this upon yourselves…Yes that’s right Steven (Canuck…AKA “Seal Clubber”) Buursema has become the new Vice President for DH in 2008—not bad…Eh! No one from Perth; from WA; or from Australia put their hand up so you’ve had to recruit from overseas and import a foreigner from Canada—eh, but hey we couldn’t let the club be shelved for a year and lose a majority of the races that were scheduled for 2008. So I would like to introduce myself and welcome back all the “old-skool” crew for another fantastic year of racing.
Details for the 4X this weekend are up under the DH Race Announcements link
We have been fortunate this week in that DEC and Paul Neve have managed to pretty much finish the track, so a busy bee will not be necessary. Finishing touches (lawnmowing/snippering etc) will happen next week. Have fun riding it this weekend! Otherwise don't forget about the 4X at Paul's on Sunday!
Cheers

Hi All,
The race for this weekend the 23rd of September is to be held at the Goat Farm. The Goat Farm, is located on the eastern side of Greenmount Rise, Greenmount. (As you proceed East on Great Eastern Hwy up the hill, when you reach Scott Street on your RHS, Greenmount Rise is the next right.) See here for a Google Map.
Parking will be in at the Goat Farm. The course will be a new course and this is good practice for the coming state championships. This is the last club race for the year for PMBC, but not the last club activity for the year.
Rego 7.30 to 8.45 am
Under 13 = 9.00 am (20 minutes + 1 lap)
On the weekend of 6th & 7th of October the club will be having a track building session at Turner Hill in Dwellingup. This is one of the best tracks and the upgrades will help to remove some of the old rutted out sections and also some part of the step fire road climb out the back. The changes have been approved by DEC and Clinton from DEC will be joining us for part of the weekend to watch over proceedings.
Track building legend Jamie Campbell is the mastermind behind the changes so it is sure to be a fun track.
I am informed that there is now a toilet at Turner Hill as well as plans for a bigger neater car park. Some people will be camping over night so that they can enjoy as muhc trail building and riding as possible.
Please let me know here if you can make the weekend as the more helpers we have the more we can get done.
John
